The village of Dětmarovice is located in the northeastern part of the Ostrava agglomeration, 9 km northwest of the district town of Karviná at an altitude of 214 - 234 m, the highest points are Vilčkův kopec (266 m) and Nebrojův kopec (250 m). Dětmarovice has an area of 1,376 ha, of which 61.3% is agricultural land and 38.7% is other areas. The village consists of 2 cadastral areas - Dětmarovice and Koukolná (159 ha), which became part of Dětmarovice in the years 1872 - 1875. Other local parts are Zálesí, Olmovec and Glembovec.
The first written mention of Dětmarovice dates back to 1305. In the first time, the village belonged to the property of the Těšín princes. In 1362, Prince Přemek sold half of Dětmarovice to Držek of Věřňovice, and retained the other half. Later, half of the village came into the possession of the Orlovsky monastery, from where it was taken over by Prince Adam in 1560 in a dispute over the successor of the deceased abbot. Thus, the village was again united into one economic unit. After Kazimír's death in 1571, Václav Adam had to give his consent to the sale of most of the territory in Kazimír's possession. Dětmarovice thus reached the Rychvald estate. In the last quarter of the 17th century, however, they were already part of the Taafov estate of Dolnolutyň. In 1792, Jan Larisch bought Dětmarovice and connected it with the Karviná estates. They remained in this union until the abolition of serfdom in 1848.
Since 1949 it belongs to the district of Karviná.
