TOWNSHIP OF COTKYTLE
The mountain village of Cotkytle is located on the Czech-Moravian border in the northeastern part of the Ústí nad Orlicí district. The villages of Janoušov, Herbortice and Mezilesí currently belong to the village of Cotkytle.
Not far away is the Lázek hill with a lookout tower at an altitude of 714 m, which is the last spur of the mountains on the border of Bohemia and Moravia. In the years 1908-9, the National Unity of Olomouc built a lookout tower and a mound of Svatopluk Checha. In 1933, a brick tourist hut named after the North Moravian revivalist Josef Reichl was rebuilt and built. In good weather, more than 70 settlements can be seen with the naked eye, from Haná, through the Jeseníky Mountains, Orlické Mountains to the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands.
Until 1905, there were no roads in and around Cotkytli. Today they diverge into four parties. From spring to autumn, beautiful corners can be found on roads and paths for pedestrians and cyclists. In winter, visitors are attracted by ideal cross-country skiing terrain and the slope between Cotkytlí and Janousov. Tourism and recreation will most likely be the future of our village.
The oldest association in the village is the volunteer fire brigade. The physical education unit takes care of the youth's free time. In the village there is a kindergarten and a primary school, a branch of the Czech Post Office, a Konzumu store and a car repair shop. There is a private grocery store in Herbortice. Businesses in the fields of agriculture and tourism are developing in the municipalities.
