The wine village of Horní Věstonice is located on the northwestern edge of the PLA. Pálava about 10 km north of Mikulov. The village was founded shortly before 1312 on the then property of Děvičky Castle. In 1334, they acquired the Mikulov manor and Děvičky castle with all the property of the Liechtensteins. Since then, for more than 500 years, the fate of Horní Věstony was closely linked with the Mikulov estate.
