The statutory city of Frýdek-Místek is located in the Moravian-Silesian Region in the foothills of the Beskydy Mountains, at the confluence of the Ostravice and Morávka rivers. The oldest written sources document the existence of municipalities as early as the mid-13th century. The first clear mention of Frýdek comes from the first half of the 14th century. Nowadays, Frýdek-Místek is known for its summer festivals such as Beskydské Veseléto, International Folklore Festival, Beskyd Records, Sweetsen Fest and Musical Harvest.
