The village of Citov lies in the flat area of the fertile landscape of Haná, approximately 10 km west of Přerov, on the left bank of the river branch called Morávka.
We know about Citov from 1283, when Milíč from Citov appears as a witness in a document which Bishop Dětřich of Olomouc confirmed to the monastery of St. James in Olomouc for the village of Trávník.
From 1290, Citov belonged to the Dominican convent at St. Catherine's in Olomouc, which built a Baroque chateau here as its summer residence in the 1960s. After the abolition of the monastery in 1782, Citov belonged to the religious fund and the royal chamber sold it in 1827 to the Pauspertl brothers from Drachenthal. Tobiáš Pauspertl had the existing chateau building standing by the manor house demolished and an Empire chateau built in its place. The construction was carried out by the builder Rosa of Kroměříž and was completed in 1845. The chateau was inherited from the Pausperts in 1908 by the Knights de Navarro, who owned it until 1945. A natural landscape park was established around the chateau, which is used for cultural and social purposes.
Among the dominants of the village is the church of St. George from 1735, which was extended in 1805 by an oratory and a sacristy. The real cultural monument of the village is a water mill from 1739, one of the oldest in Moravia. However, he changed the site three times for the floods caused by Moravia.
Today, Citov is a modern village with a complete technical infrastructure, which is necessary for the current demanding lifestyle. A modern house was built here with nine apartments for citizens who lost their family houses during the floods in 1997. Opposite the chateau, a sports complex was built, in which there are two swimming pools (currently out of operation for technical reasons), tennis courts, a football pitch and a volleyball court. In winter, a sauna is operated. For refreshments and entertainment for visitors, the main building has a restaurant and a terrace with a dance floor.
