The village with its part Homyle lies on both banks of the river Bystřice, at the crossroads of the roads from Hradec Králové through Libčany to Nové Bydžov and from Hořice in Podkrkonoší to Přelouč. Since 1975, the municipalities of Trnava, Zvíkov and Budín properly belong to the municipality. The first written reports about Boharyna come from 1355, the other parts are mentioned a little later.
The dominant feature of the village is the baroque church of St. Bartholomew, which was built in 1650 and rebuilt in 1783. An old wooden mill from 1874 has been preserved.
Sports, cultural and social life in the village are taken care of by T.J. Bystřice in Boharyn, the Association of Gardeners and the Hunting Association. Three volunteer fire brigades work in the village - SDH Boharyně, SDH Trnava and SDH Zvíkov. A football field, a field for ball games and a children's playground are used for sporting activities of the citizens.
