The village of Vápenný Podol is located in the district of Chrudim, in the Pardubice Region. The village consists of parts of Nerozhovice, Cítkov and Vápenný Podol, spreads over 912 ha and now has 241 inhabitants.
The first written mention of the village dates from 1513. In the village there was a healing spring, which was used for spa purposes. Water has had beneficial effects on diseases of the joints, muscles, nerves, eyes, liver and stomach. Limestone quarries are also known, which were used to extract high-quality limestone. Several caves were discovered precisely because of mining, the most famous being the Podolská and Páter's caves.
