The town of Hlinsko lies on the border of two protected landscape areas, Žďárské vrchy and Železné hory. The landscape north of Hlinsko decreases significantly on the slopes of the Iron Mountains to the region to Chrudim and to the west to Chotěboř.
To the south and east of Hlinsko, the peaks of Žďárské vrchy rise - Devět skal, Žákova hora and others. Typical scenery of the local region are small paths in the middle of fields lined with mature birches, many flooded quarries forming picturesque lakes or a number of smaller and larger hills consisting in the horizon into a small panorama.
