The village of Rataje is located in the Zlín Region, near the district town of Kroměříž. The first written mention of the village comes from 1349. Two smaller villages Popovice and Sobělice are associated with the village. Currently there live around 1130 inhabitants. Several important personalities were also born in Ratají, including the composer Emil Axman, the member of the Reichstag Viktorin Brázdil and the academic painter Oldřich Zezula.
