The Society of Jesus (Latin: Societas Iesu) is the largest male religious order of the Catholic Church without a parallel female branch. It currently has less than 20,000 members worldwide. There are only a few dozen Jesuits active in the territory of the Czech Republic at this time, who live in six communities: in Prague, Brno, Olomouc, Český Těšín, Velehrad and Svaté Hostýn. They mainly engage in pastoral work among students and in parishes, teach, give spiritual exercises and work in the media.
