The village Hněvošice lies in the northern part of the district Opava near the state border with the Republic of Poland - the northern border of the cadastral territory is also the state border. In the south-east the village borders with the village Kobeřice, in the south with the village
Služovice and its parts Vrbka, in the west with the village Oldřišov. The village has a cadastral area of 616 ha and 1026 inhabitants live here. An important archaeological locality is Hněvošický háj (Hněvošický háj), where 5 sprinkled cairns can be seen, originally from the Bronze Age, into which the graves of Slavic Great Moravian period were later inserted

built here a smaller Baroque chateau. In 1920, the village was annexed to the Czechoslovak Republic and incorporated into the district of Hlučín, since 1928, with the exception of years of occupation, belongs to the district of Opava.

From the point of view of architectural values, the parish building and the undoubtedly new Church of Christ the Good Shepherd, which is the dominant feature of the village, can be seen in the wide surroundings. Hněvošický Grove was declared a nature reserve in 1969 with an area of 67, 71 ha, with natural forests with elements of the Carpathian flora, which is located here in the northwest border of its expansion.
