Root canal treatment or microscopic endodontics

If inflammation of a tooth or its surroundings appears, whether caused by dental caries, an injury or other causes, it is necessary to act quickly. Fortunately, modern dentistry offers painless solution which will rid you of a problem, often only one visit to a specialized dentist's office is sufficient. We are talking about the intervention called microscopic endodontics, that is root canal treatment under the microscope.

So that root canal treatment would be carried out precisely and tooth necrosis and its extraction would be prevented, it is necessary to carry out this operation under the microscope. Structures of these tooth parts measure from 0.1 mm to 0.5 mm, during common treatment of root canals, it is impossible to carry out this in high quality.

Microscopic endodontics – course of treatment

If root canal treatment awaits you, there is nothing to worry if you follow your doctor's advice. Microscopic endodontics is a painless operation because it is carried out under local anesthesia. In the first phase of treatment, a tooth is insulated using so-called Kofferdam which is an insulating film ensuring both protection of a patient during surgery and perfect view of a doctor. Probing and root canal processing and naturally disinfection follow. Relatively exacting procedure is finished by hermetic filling of root canals and tooth completion of photocomposit resin or a pin and a crown.

After root canal treatment, a patient can feel pressure in the spot of intervention, it can be eliminated by conventional painkillers (Ibalgin, Nalgesin S etc.).

Root canal treatment complications

In great majority of cases, the microscopic endodontics is a matter of a one-time treatment, but there are certain complications also in this intervention, it may be, for example, swelling of the face or long-term untreated inflammation. These operations may drag on two necessary visits.

What microscopic endodontics brings you?

Root canal treatment under the microscope saves your tooth which was "sentenced to death" before the operation. After well done microscopic endodontics, this tooth will serve even for decades, in many cases for life, it depends on the subsequent completion of the remaining tooth part.
