Statutory city of Ostrava City district Stará Bělá.
It lies about 10 km southeast of the center of Ostrava. Although it forms a common administrative unit with Ostrava, it has retained its rural character.
The terrain of the village is rugged, although the altitude does not exceed 300 m.n.m. A large part of the area - 14 km2 consists of forests, the area adjacent to the right bank of the Odra River is part of the Protected Landscape Area Poodří. The village has about 3950 inhabitants.
It can be dated to the first half of the 13th century, the first written record is from 1272. The name derives from the original name of the stream flowing through the village - Bělanka.
There is a primary school, two kindergartens, a library, a health center, a church of the Roman Catholic and Czechoslovak Hussite churches.
Several marked cycling routes pass through the village.
The local marking outlines two sightseeing routes (8 and 15 km), on which the Starobělská zámčiska tourist march is organized every year.
