The first mention of the village is from the early 17th century. In 1602, Dobratice was owned by Bohuš Tluk from Tošanovice. Bukovice also belonged to the Dobratice estate. In 1850, Dobratice and Bukovice were merged into one village with the common name Dobratice.
The village of Dobratice lies in the foothills of the Beskydy Mountains, 7.5 km from Frýdek - Místek. It consists of the local parts of Dobratice, Bukovice, Hranice, Podlesí, Amerika and Šprochovice. In the village there are basic civic amenities - kindergarten, primary school, library, shops, hospitality, restaurants, water and gas. The connection is by train on the route Frýdek - Místek - Český Těšín and by bus.
Cultural and social activities are taken care of by local associations - gardeners, chess club, Filla choir, parish youth, Háj hunting association and voluntary fire brigade. TJ Comfort Dobratice operates in the field of sports.
Marked routes for hiking and cycling pass through the village. Of the historical monuments is the important church of St. Filip and Jakub from 1865. It was built on the initiative of the parish priest Filip Habrnal. Another monument is the former bailiff's office no. 163. There is currently an inn Harenda.
