Pražmo is a small village with an area of 355 ha. It is located in the beautiful surroundings of the Beskydy Mountains in the valley of the Morávka River. The beauty of the local surroundings and the interest in the life of the Beskydy mountaineers brought to these places the Silesian poet Petr Bezruč. He mentions Pražmo in several poems. His famous Maryčka Magdónová is also buried in the local cemetery.
The village, whose original name was from 1914 to bream (Praschma), is one of the youngest villages in Podbeskydí. It was the only one of the surrounding villages to be founded in 1777 by the then owner of the Frýdek estate by Count Jan Nepomuk Pražma.
