Nýdek is a village and municipality (obec) in Northeastern Czech Republic in the North Moravia and Silesia.
With an area of 2820 ha it ranks among the largest municipalities of the Frýdek-Místek district. The population is 1994.
The highest point is Čantoryje Mountain - 995 m above sea level. Water is drained from the village by the Hluchová River.
On the territory of the village there is a special protected area - national nature reserve Čantoryje with an area of 40 ha.
There are many associations and organizations in the village:
- Association of Beekeepers, TJ Sokol Nýdek, Association of Boy Scouts and Boy Scouts Junák, Czech Red Cross, PZKO, Czech Hunting Association Beskydy, Hunting Association Cantoryje, Czech Gardening Association, Association of voluntary firefighters.
