The village of Petřvald is located in the northeastern part of the Novojičín district, on the right bank of the Lubina river and on the left side of the road leading from Příbor to Ostrava.
Its mean altitude is 244 m above sea level.
Together with the settlement of Petřvaldík, it forms one political and cadastral municipality.
As of January 1, 2000, the village had 1, 785 inhabitants, of which 1, 557 were in Petřvald and 228 in Petřvaldík.
A total of 531 house numbers are registered in it, and the area of the village is 1250 ha, of which agricultural land is 907 ha, forest land 68 ha, water areas 33 ha, built-up area 32 ha and other unspecified land 210 ha.
Currently, there is a church, parish office, elementary school, health center, fire station, and many more in the place
shops and several companies and joint-stock companies of a local character are also based here.
