The village of Spáňov is located about five kilometers from the district town of Domažlice and is part of the historic Chodsko region. Spáňov lies at an altitude of 435 m above sea level in the Pošumava landscape on the western edge of the South Bohemian Highlands. The first historical mention of the village dates from 1372. At present, 184 inhabitants live in Spáňov.
