The village of Loket is located in the district of Benešov in the Central Bohemia region.
The territorial unit of the municipality of Lokte extends along both banks of the Švihov reservoir and administers parts of the municipality of Alberovice, Bezděkov, Brzotice, Kačerov, Loket, Němčice, Radíkovice and Všebořice.
The first written mention of the village dates from 1352.
Loket currently has 590 permanent residents.
