- The town of Lanškroun was founded in the 13th century and its name Landeskrone ("Land Crown") emphasized the importance of the seat on the border of Bohemia, Moravia and Silesia. It lies in the Lanškroun basin below the southernmost outcrops of the Eagle Mountains at an altitude of 380 m above sea level.
