The first mention of the village of Pňovany dates from 1205.
It covers an area of 18.42 m2 and at an altitude of 425 m, it has 4 parts. Rájov, Chotěšovičky and Nový Dvůr belong to the village. 400 inhabitants live in the village. Here we can find a municipal office with operating hours on Mondays and Wednesdays between 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m., as well as a kindergarten and a primary school for the first grade. There is a baroque castle from the middle of the 18th century - currently inaccessible, the church of St. Anna, originally a Gothic building from the end of the 14th century, rebuilt in the second half of the 17th century. There is also a baroque Jewish cemetery from the 19th century.
