The town of Sedlčany is located in central Povltava, about 60 km south of Prague in the district of Příbram. It is situated at an altitude of 321 m above sea level and covers an area of 3647 ha. The first mention of the origin of the city is from the 11th century. In the Middle Ages, Sedlčany was the economic and administrative center of the then Vltava region. In 1580, the famous fishmonger Jakub Krčín acquired Sedlčany from the hands of the Rožmberks. At present, Sedlčany has over 7, 000 inhabitants and includes nine other parts of the village: Doubravice, Hradišťko, Libíň, Oříkov, Sestrouň, Solopysky, Třebnice, Vítěž, Zberaz.
