The village of Červený Újezd lies at an altitude of 593 m on a long mountain ridge enclosing the Sedlec basin in the east. The whole municipality has an area of 1259 ha and according to the statistics of the Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic, 313 inhabitants lived here permanently as of 1 January 2014. The administrative territory of the village is divided into the following local parts - Červený Újezd, Horní Borek, Milhostice, Nové Dvory, Styrov and Třetužel.

We have the first historical reports about Újezd from the second half of the 14th century, when the parish church of St. Matthew. From this we learn that the settlement was founded much earlier than the church by the lords, who had their seat here and wrote from Újezd. The church tower was not added until 1833-38, and in 1848 a new bell weighing 157 kilograms was purchased with charity. Until 1879, Červený Újezd belonged to the village of Smilkov, then it was declared an independent village.

In 1902, Adéla Heintschlová built a one-storey villa in the Swiss style, which houses two reliefs by sculptor František Bílek. One shows how fast time passes - over a lying man galloping with a woman's forest woman - and the other suggests that time causes wrinkles - savages dig wrinkles on the lying man's forehead.

The municipal office can be found at Červený Újezd 6.
