The sites of the oldest settlement in the village of Svijany date back to the Early Stone Age. They are the garbage burial grounds of the People of Garbage Fields.

Svijany currently has 271 inhabitants, of which 36 are children, 177 of working age and 58 are pensioners.
The village has state-protected cultural monuments, namely archeological sites, a castle and newly reconstructed Baroque statues.
Svijany is the birthplace of the famous painter Jan Prousek, who was the founder of the Museum of Bohemian Paradise in Turnov.
Svijany and its surroundings provide good facilities for hiking, biking and recreation.
