The town of Lučany nad Nisou is situated at the foot of the Jizera Mountains in the Liberec Region. The first written mention of the village dates back to 1623. Lučany nad Nisou was promoted to the town in 1913 and in 1945 this status was withdrawn from the town. It was not returned until 2006. The towns are associated with the smaller municipalities of Jindřichov and Horní Maxov. At present, Lučany has over 1, 800 inhabitants.
