The village of Žehuň is located in the Central Bohemian region, on the northeastern edge of the district of Kolín, at an altitude of 204 m. A significant part of the village lies at the southwestern edge of the Žehuň pond. An important point is Kozí hůra (sometimes referred to as Kosí hůra), 272 m high. The village has 261 descriptive numbers. The number of inhabitants as of 1/1/2022 was 442.

An important landmark of the village of Žehuň is the late Baroque church of St. Gothard with the typical bulbous tower.

Žehuňský rybník has a cadastral area of 254 ha, in terms of area it is eighth in Bohemia and fifth in terms of length. It is used for fish breeding, water retention and recreation. The pond is fished every year in mid-October.

Part of the cadastre of the village is occupied by the Bird area Žehuňský rybník - Obora Kněžičky, a Europeanly significant locality Žehuňsko and a national nature reserve.
