Kuks Hospital National Cultural Monument:
The hospital is part of a unique Baroque complex on the Upper Elbe, founded by F. A. Špork (1662 - 1738) after 1695. First, a spa was built on the left bank of the Elbe at healing springs with a castle and a staircase. A hospital with the Church of the Holy Trinity and a family crypt (G. B. Alliprandi) was built on the right bank. The area in front of the church and hospital is decorated with statues from the workshop of M. B. Braun (1684 - 1738), depicting allegories of Religion and a number of Virtues and Vices. The sculptural decoration was created between 1712 and 1731. In 1743, the Order of Merciful Brothers was introduced to the hospital, who took care of the old and sick inmates of the hospital according to the statutes of the František Antonín Šporek Hospital Foundation. Thanks to its decoration and purpose, the Kuk hospital is one of the most important Baroque monuments in Central Europe.
