Today, the town of Pec pod Sněžkou is one of the most famous and most visited mountain tourism centers in the Czech Republic with year-round use at an altitude of 750 m and has about 600 still living inhabitants. It is located in the valley of the river Úpa, Zelený and Luční potok, in beautiful nature between the surrounding peaks of Černá hora (1299 m.a.s.l.), Jeleního vrch (1024 m.a.s.l.), Liščí hora (1363 m.a.s.l.), Studniční hory (1554 m.a.s.l.) and Sněžka. At 1, 602 meters, the border mountain with Poland Sněžka is the highest mountain in the territory of the Czech Republic.
