The town of Vyškov is a district town on the Haná River in the northern part of the South Moravian Region and forms the cultural, social and economic center of the region. The history of Vyškov dates back to the early Stone Age, as evidenced by numerous archaeological finds, the first written mention dates from 1141. The historic city center is a city monument zone and is also nicknamed "Moravian Versailles" or "Haná Versailles".
Vyškov is also inextricably linked with the army, which has been operating here since 1936 to the present.
