In the foothills of the highest mountain of the Hostýn Hills, Kelečské Javorník (865 m.a.s.l.), a number of small settlements are located at the border of the forest and fields.
Loukov is one of them. We will probably never know when the first colonists appeared in the place, whether it was in the 12th, 13th or even the beginning of the 14th century.
It was first mentioned in 1348, when part of it belonged to Vavřinc of Količín.
However, the first reminder of its existence already means that there was a village with a few buildings in the place, whose inhabitants lived from the income of small plots, but mainly from the presence of a forest, the edge of which once reached lower than it is today.
In addition to logging, it was certainly also the collection of forest fruits and, above all, grazing in the numerous clearings.
After all, that's where the name Loukova came from - it probably comes from the old Czech word "luka" meaning a grassy place in the forest.
