The village of Jívová was founded in the Low Jeseník area, at a relatively high altitude of 571 meters above sea level, on one of the local ridges, north of the top of Mount Jedová (633 meters above sea level), in the area northeast of Olomouc and east of the nearest town Šternberk.
The cadastre of the village can be imagined as a hilly plateau, which falls relatively guardly in the south and southwest into the Morava river basin, in the east and southeast into the deeply cut valley of the river Bystřice with railway tracks and two former mills, in the west also into the deep valley Bělkovického (Trusovického ) of the stream, above which once stood on a rock the important castle Tepenec (540 meters above sea level). Jívovské náměstí is located at an altitude of 600 meters above sea level, which is relatively very high. The cadastre in a fairly large area of 1543 hectares is filled in the middle with slopes distributed along the slopes, partly, especially on the edges to the south and the valleys of Bystřice and Bělkovský stream. extensive forests, although it is clear that the region used to be far more forested than it is now. The whole landscape acts as an agricultural island in the middle of the hills, framed by forests and with a significant dominance of the Jívov church of St. Bartholomew and buildings in the vicinity of the village square and from there along the roads running to all sides of the world.
