The village of Lipina is located in the central mountainous part of Nízké Jeseník, 4 km from the town of Šternberk, at an altitude of 490 m.a.s.l. It consists of two parts - the Lipina part and the Stachov part.

The oldest report on the existence of the village comes from 1296, where both parts of the village are named as Lipinie and Stachova ves. Both villages belonged to the Šternber manor until the abolition of serfdom. In 1850, they were incorporated into the Šternberk district. The original settlement was mainly Czech, but from the 14th century German settlers began to settle there. In 1854, a total of 252 inhabitants lived here. In 1867, a larger part of the village burned down. In 1938, both Lipina and Stachov became part of the Šternber Landrár within the Greater German Empire. In the seventies, Lipina and Stachov were annexed to Šternberk.

Lipina became independent after a referendum held in both municipalities in 1990. In 1996, the municipality celebrated 700 years since the first written mention of Lipina and Stachov, which can be found in a document stored in the archives of the city of Olomouc.

The village is known for car races to the Ecce Homo hill, the track of which passes through the territory of the village. Marked hiking and cycling routes pass through here. The surrounding area is known for its high-quality ski terrain, the forests abound with rich flora, and in autumn it is a paradise for mushroom pickers. In the center of the village there is a chapel with a bell tower, not far from which there is a monument to the victims of World War I with the names of the fallen citizens of Lipina and Stachov.
