The village of Velký Týnec is an old Slavic village founded in places where there were still older settlements in the depths of prehistory, as evidenced by numerous but absolutely convincing finds of prehistoric objects. It is located in the Olomouc district at the confluence of the Týnečky and Beroňka streams. The first written mention of the village dates from 1207. At present, there are 2, 981 inhabitants.
