Obec Radkov

c. 58, Radkov 747 83
Radkov Municipal Office.
The village of Radkov, and its local parts Dubová and Nové Zálužné, is a village located in the hilly terrain of the southeastern part of the Low Jeseník, approximately 17 km from Opava with a cadastral area of 1, 567 ha and an average altitude of 500 m above sea level. The whole cadastre lies in a protected area
Moravice Nature Park, above the valley of the river of the same name.
The oldest written mention of Radkov is in written sources, a document from April 18, 1377 concerning the division of the Duchy of Opava among the sons of Nicholas II. Historically, our village is inextricably linked with the medieval castle Vikštejn, at that time
the strongest castle in Silesia, now a ruin, frequently visited by tourists.
The ruins of the castle, the Radkov Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary and the unique linden alley are among the most important landmarks
our community. Not only these, but also other sights can be seen in the village-in the local cemetery-tombs of the last lords of the Vikštejn estate, Count Razumovský, a beautiful castle in Dubová, which now houses a children's home, which includes a beautiful park with a pond.
Although it is a small village, its location and rich past make it a very attractive location.
We know from historical sources that the village had the most inhabitants in 1900, about 1078. At present, it is permanently in the village
514 inhabitants registered and during the recreational season about 300 vacationers will be added, mostly cottagers and cottagers.
In 1990, we became a separate municipality from the central municipality.
