The first mention of the village dates back to October 16, 1307, when Bačkov, under the administration of the castle in Smrdov (now Sázavka), acquired the Benedictine monastery in Vilémov, thus transferring patronage from Reimund of Lichtenburg to Vilém's abbot Jaroslav (Czech archive I. 39, chronicle of the village Bačkov).
